Welcome to Ride Cairns

Cairns mountain bike trails are a priority for recreational riders around the world after seeing the Rumble in the Jungle action of the 2014 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in the Smithfield rainforest.

Mountain bike riders wanting a tropical adventure have given Cairns the thumbs up as the entry point for a diverse region where they can ride trails exploring the rainforest, mountains, beaches and accessible outback.

More than 700km of documented trails take in the two mountain biking hubs of Smithfield Regional Park in Cairns and Atherton Forest Mountain Bike Park on the Atherton Tablelands as well as an array of trails around Mareeba, Port Douglas and Daintree, and the Cassowary Coast.

The spectacular Cairns & Great Barrier Reef region is the only place where you can go mountain biking through World Heritage-listed rainforest, tackle trails designed to challenge world champions or peddle leisurely along the edge of the waters of the Great Barrier Reef.

This world-class mountain biking destination is the home of the 2014 and 2016 UCI Mountain Bike World Cups and the 2017 UCI World Mountain Bike and Trials Championships which use the exciting downhill and cross-country trails at Smithfield Regional Park, only a 20 minute drive from Cairns international airport.

The world’s oldest, toughest and most adventurous race, the Crocodile Trophy, and the iconic RRR Mountain Bike Challenge are held in the Cairns region each year.

Recreational mountain bikers and families also will discover trails to match their ability, with the purpose-built mountain bike parks and forest trails offering a range of trail options.

Cairns & Great Barrier Reef has five unique mountain biking regions to explore.
